Phlox paniculata 'Blue Evening'
A tall phlox with large, wide-petalled lavender-blue flowers that appear almost true blue in cool evening light. The substantial flower trusses are held on sturdy stems well above the foliage. The evening colour shift creates interesting garden effects as light changes.
Requires moisture-retentive soil and good air circulation to minimize mildew risk. The height and sturdy stems make it suitable for back of border positions. Flowering period and plant height can be managed by cutting back some stems in mid-June if desired. The blue tones are uncommon in garden phlox.
