Pennisetum orientale
An oriental fountain grass producing long-lasting display. Forms rounded mounds creating substantial presence. Prefers warm and sunny location where it will flower most profusely. The bottlebrush-like flower heads are characteristic of fountain grasses.
Native to southwestern Asia. Requires excellent drainage and full sun. The fluffy plumes create soft texture above foliage. Suitable for borders, gravel gardens, and containers. More cold-hardy than many fountain grasses. The flower heads persist into fall providing extended interest. Cut back to ground in late winter avoiding itchy seeds that burrow into loosely knit fabrics.
