Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Moudry'
Fluffy dark purplish-brown tails reaching substantial length appear in great quantity above rounded mounds of arching deep green foliage. All fountain grasses prefer warm and sunny location where they will flower most profusely. The dark colour distinguishes this cultivar from typical species.
Native to Asia and Australia. Requires warm sunny position for best flowering. The dark purplish-brown colour is distinctive. Suitable for borders and containers. Cut back to ground in late winter but avoid wearing wool or loosely knit fabrics as seeds burrow through fibers causing itchiness. The rounded mounds create substantial presence. More tender than oriental fountain grass.
