Orlaya grandiflora
Technically an annual but reliably returns through self-seeding in appropriate conditions. Flat white umbels feature small inner flowers with enlarged ray flowers along outer edges creating a sublimely lacy effect. Often germinates in fall, overwintering with finely textured foliage rosettes.
Requires full sun and hot, dry summer conditions for best performance. Once established with fresh seed in suitable location, returns reliably each year. Seedlings appear in unexpected places but are always welcome. Excellent cut flower. Native to Mediterranean Europe. RHS Award of Garden Merit.
