Lychnis coronaria 'Oculata'
A bicolored form of rose campion with magenta flowers featuring white eyes. The felted gray foliage forms rosettes at summer's end, persisting through winter. Tall sturdy multi-branched felted stems produce flowers from mid-spring to midsummer.
Short-lived but self-seeds prolifically. The fuzzy young leaves make seedlings easy to identify for weeding or sharing. Drought-tolerant, accepting of building sites and weekend cabins. The white eye adds refinement to the typical magenta. More controlled in spread than plain magenta forms.
