About Glenraven Farm & Nursery

Glenraven Farm & Nursery sits in the Burgoyne Valley, where the land rises toward the mountain and drops again to fields below. The work here began with a handful of perennials and an idea that growing should feel connected to place. What started as a small nursery has become a living landscape of soil, water, and light, where each plant is raised with care and purpose.

The nursery is the heart of the property. It holds one propagation tunnel, a small glasshouse, and the growing beds that supply hardy perennials, ornamental grasses, and companion plants suited to the coastal climate. Every plant is grown on site, following organic practices and without pesticides or neonics. The nearby plant library shows these same plants in full composition, where they can be studied, photographed, and tested through the seasons.

Around the nursery, the farm stretches outward into pasture and orchard. Sheep graze the meadows, compost returns to the soil, and the food beds behind the library now bring early harvests for the farm stand. Honeybees work the fields through spring and summer, moving between fruit blossom and perennial bloom. They are part of the same rhythm that guides the rest of the farm and a reminder that every decision here is made with pollinators in mind. In the seasons ahead, the work will grow to include rotational grazing and heritage poultry raised on pasture and allowed to range freely. Each step is part of learning how to care for this place and the life within it.

Glenraven is not a finished idea. It is a practice of observation, patience, and improvement, shaped by the rhythms of weather and growth. Every day the land teaches something new, and every season leaves its mark.

Visitors are welcome to see how the land and nursery fit together. The plants in the library, the sheep in the pasture, and the garden by the stand each tell part of the same story. Glenraven is a place to move slowly, to notice what the season is doing, and to see how small, careful work gathers meaning over time.
